& Southern Named "Top 50" Insurance Company by The Ward Group
The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company was listed as one of The Ward Group’s 50 Top
Performing Insurance Companies for 2006. Ward is an operational consulting firm
and a leading provider of benchmarking and best practices to the insurance
industry.
To select the top performers each year, Ward analyzes the financial performance of over 3,000
property-casualty insurance companies and 900 life-health insurance companies
that are based in the United States. The Ward recognition means that each
winner has passed all safety and consistency screens and achieved superior
performance over the five years of analysis.

June 21, 2006 All W&SFG’s Life Insurance Companies Receive Highest Rating from A.M. Best
On June 21, 2006, all
of Western & Southern Financial Group's® (W&SFG) life
insurance member companies received the highest financial strength rating A++
(Superior) from the A.M. Best Co.
The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, Western-Southern Life Assurance Company,
Columbus Life Insurance Company, Integrity Life Insurance Company, and National
Integrity Life Insurance Company each had its A++ rating affirmed. In
addition, The Lafayette Life Insurance Company, W&SFG's newest life insurance
company member, was upgraded to A++ (Superior) from A+. All ratings carry a
stable outlook.
According to A.M. Best, the ratings reflect W&SFG’s superior risk-adjusted capitalization,
conservative operating profile, broad product portfolio, expanded distribution
and consistent earnings. A.M Best credits the strong regional presence that W&SFG has
built, as well as the quality and performance of the company's investment portfolio.
These ratings recognize the increasing contribution of the group members to the success of
the W&SFG Enterprise, as well as the strong guarantees in place with The Western and
Southern Life Insurance Company.

June 9, 2006 Fort Washington Earns Top-Performer Ranking
The high yield composite managed by Fort Washington Investment Advisors, Inc., (FWI) has
earned the top spot on Pensions & Investments’ ranking of commingled
fixed income strategies for the five-year period ending Dec. 31, 2005. FWI’s
high yield strategy focuses on the higher-quality segments of the High Yield
Fixed Income market. The FWI philosophy is that these high yield composite
segments offer the best alignment of risk and return, and provide the most
favorable opportunity to outperform over a full market cycle while maximizing
potential risk-adjusted returns. Fort Washington currently manages high yield
assets of $2.3 billion.

May 26, 2006 IFS Compliance Communications Officer Awarded Bronze Star
Tom Shoemake, a Compliance Communications Officer at Integrated Financial Services, Inc.
(IFS), a partner organization of Western & Southern Financial Group
(W&SFG), has been awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in Iraq.
The Bronze Star is awarded to members of all branches of U.S. military service who distinguish
themselves by heroic or meritorious service, in connection with military
operations against an armed enemy.
Shoemake, a 17-year Marine Corps veteran and a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves, was called to
active duty almost a year ago. He was deployed to Iraq in August 2005. During
his nearly nine months in Iraq, Shoemake and the troops under his command
disrupted four Al-Qaeda cells in the city of Hit, west of Baghdad. In the
course of the operation, Shoemake’s group suffered heavy injuries, including
one casualty. Shoemake was one of the injured during this particular
operation.
Shoemake received the Bronze Star from Ohio Congressman Steve Chabot in a ceremony held
in Mt. Adams, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

February 22, 2006 Capital Analysts Incorporated Had Record Year
Capital Analysts Incorporated (CAI) experienced 11 percent in gross revenue growth in 2005. CAI
is Western & Southern Financial Group’s® full-service broker/dealer company
that provides customized service for independent financial advisors. Capital
Analysts’ representatives now manage $6.8 billion of client assets, a record
for the company and a 21 percent increase over 2004.
